Services and Revenue

a. Explain the origins, functions, purposes, and differences of county and city governments in Georgia.
b. Compare and contrast the weak mayor-council, the strong mayor-council, and the council-manager forms of city government.
c. Describe the functions of special-purpose governments.

Why do we have County and City government?
How do Counties and Cities come into being?
What services do County and City governments provide?
Where does the revenue come from to provide these resources?
What is a special purpose government? What does it do?

Students looked at the services government provides us by reading page 568 - 569. Students also looked at sources of revenue used to provide those services.

Today in Georgia History:
January 13, 1982 Hank Aaron and Frank Robinson became the 12th and 13th players elected to the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame in their first year of eligibility. Aaron came within nine votes of becoming the first-ever unanimous selection, receiving 97.8 percent of the votes of baseball writers participating in the Hall of Fame election.
